Statement of the board of the catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Egypt

On The occasion of its regular annual session, the board met in Dar Saint Estphanos , Maadi from 21 to 23 January 2014 .
The Patriarchs and Bishops examined the pastoral work plan for 2014 , along with some administrative matters that concern the church , they decided that the theme for this year is " the joy of the gospel " based on the Pope's message issued at the end of 2013. The board discussed the inclusion of the theme as part of the pastoral programs in order to allow all believers to experience what the good news of the gospel has to offer of peace and joy.
As the board believes in the importance of the communication between the church , the people and the community ,the priests has studied what has been implemented effectively of the Media Vision of the Catholic Church in Egypt , under the current changes in the Middle East , the council is also continuing the implementation of this vision so that the Church would be present in all areas of social networking such as press , Internet and the audio-visual media .
The priests of the board also listened to some reports of the Episcopal committees, as well as special reports about what had been realized of pastoral and formative work within the monastic catholic life in Egypt, the parents of the board pays tribute to the effort the orders are doing to continue the renewal of the monastic life, and the formation of the monks and nuns theologically, spiritually and humanly.
The fathers stressed their solidarity with all what Pope Francis submitts of education and life role model. The board also appreciates the initiatives to ecumenical openness and interacts with it for the good of the Egyptian church in general.
The board greets the community, the people and the Government, on the adoption of the new Constitution as new a step towards a better future. It also pays tribute to all efforts aiming to rebuilding the damaged sabotage incidents in the past year and the priests pray that God accepts the souls of the martyrs; they also emphasize offering all the resources of the Egyptian Catholic Church to serve the nation.
All the member fathers of the Board are raising prayers and putting all their hope in God to preserve our dear Egypt and make it a home dominated by justice and equality, and the people remain in peace and security.
